Day 6

Rustem needed to take care of some official business with his house this morning, so Gary and I decided to go for a walk through town and then get some breakfast. After some window shopping we stopped at our usual breakfast place for "toast", turkish coffee and cay.

We met Rustem back at the hotel and decided to "really" go out for a recovery / rest ride. Rustem owns some land and a house in a small village to the east of Kas. We climbed about 5 km out of Kas at an easy pace and then turned on to a small packed dirt road leading to the village.

At Rustem's house we gathered almonds from a tree next to his house and talked a bit with the neighbors. We then continued on the back road back to the center of Kas. It was a rocky dirt road, but was a blast to descend.

We stopped at an outdoor restaurant by the water and enjoyed some cay while Rustem greeted many more friends who just happened to be around. Next we returned to the hotel for a shower, Efes and dinner. Rustem cooked up an incredible chicken and rice dish with fresh yogurt.

Tomorrow we are planning a long ride through a number of mountain passes. We should come back with some great photos.
