Day 1

We left Boston Saturday, January 18 and set out for Rustem's home land. Here is the Quad Squad lineup: Bobby Mac, John Hirtle, Chris Prum, Gary Contic, Tom Scotto and our fearless leader, Rustem. It seemed hard to reconcile packing for a bike trip when Massachusetts was mostly covered with snow. Plus the fact than nothing in our luggage resembled winter attire. We packed the truck and shed our winter jackets before entering the airport.

Arrival in Adana, Turkey

At 6:30p everyone finally arrived in Adana. Tom did not have the same flight from Istanbul than the rest of the guys. Unfortunately, Tom's luggage was left in London and would arrive in Adana later in the evening. This would prove to insignificant since it turned out everyone's luggage got left in London.

Rustem sent us off to Kizkalesi with some friends who took us on a wild van ride. We arrived safely and got some much need rest (after a beer). The next morning Tom and Gary ventured out to the local market to score some food for breakfast. They were successful. We even managed to make some Turkish tea on our own. Just as we finished our tea, Rustem showed up with the luggage and more importantly, the bikes. We put them together and headed out for our first ride.

After the ride we had a nice cup of coffee at Hotel rain where Gary, Bobby and Tom were staying. Once we cleaned up it was off to a beautiful restaurant on the Mediterranean. The food was incredible and seemingly never ending.

We stayed up watching German MTV and looking at the photos from the day. What an adventurous, yet incredible start to our trip.

We plan on giving everyone a quick summary of the day with a few photos to wet your appetite. At a later date we will put together a slide show with much more detail.

Until Tomorrow.
