"Hello everyone. We wish you were here."
Tom enjoys a powerful tailwind and some crankin' in the big ring.
"Who is up for a few more hill repeats?"
Rustem enjoying the scenery.
Even though it was supposed to be a flat ride, there were some considerable climbs.
This guy mocked our climbing ability.
Day 5
We said we would ride rain or shine, and we got shine. So we didn't get to exercise our determination and mental toughness, I personally wasn't bummed about it.
Rustem's good friend Esref joined us for the first 10 KM but had to return to Kas for a meeting. Rustem and I continued for another trip to Kalkan. The ride was relatively flat (relatively) with a few dozen "Park Ave" like climbs sprinkled about. The headwind again greeted us on our way out with the tailwind waiting to take us home.
In Kalkan we stopped for some cay and an order of newspapers for the return trip. Our goal was to take the mountain pass back which was approx 6000 feet. As we began the ascent a local guy told us that the roads were covered with snow. Our first thought was "snow? what snow? We're from New England." However, the sun simultaneously ducked behind the cliffs which would leave us riding the entire pass without sun. We decided to come back tomorrow and ride the mountain pass first thing.
The return trip was great. The powerful tailwind enabled us to stay in the big ring for 70% of the climbs (that's a strong wind). Once back in Kas we rode another 10K loop around the the peninsula to end another great day. It was another 4+ hour day and we were not complaining one bit.
Tomorrow will be another day in the mountains.
