Day 5
Our first full day in Kas. We weren't in a hurry to get out of bed since we went to bed late last night after traveling and a late supper. Although, once we saw the beautiful view from our hotel room, it wasn't long before we were walking into town.
Our first stop was the laundry. They just take your piles of dirty clothes and return them clean and folded. Nice. We then went to find some breakfast. Rustem took us to a place run by one of his old time friends. We had toast, cay and Turkish coffee. Now this toast is not like in the states. It was grilled on a skillet and stuffed with cheese, sausage and veggies.
The weather was so beautiful we wasted no time getting on the bikes for a nice ride. Our first loop was 11 km around the peninsula. Just rolling hills and incredible scenery. Next it was out to Kalkan for some soup. The wind was so intense that 27 km took us 3 hours. There were some rolling hills, but it was the wind that created the most resistance.
After some great soup (and candy bars....our sugar was low....was) it was back to Kas before the sun left for the day. To give you some perspective on the wind, we got home in 45 minutes.
Back in Kas it was off to the traditional Turkish barber. Each of us received a shave, haircut and massage. Something everyone should experience. It was much needed after the kilometers we put in with the team over the past few days.
Now it was off to pick up our laundry and back to the hotel for a beer and some dinner. We haven't planned tomorrow ride, but hey, how bad could it be.
