Day 7
Up for breakfast at 7am again. Tom decided to race again which John, Chris and Gary went out for a ride to check out the sights of Alanya. Tom had fun in the group and at one point got so into the race that he accidentally moved up to the front. After answering a few attacks, he was warned by an official and sent to the back. Tom rode the first 60km of the race until stopping once in the mountains. Riders started to drop back and Tom feared getting another warning.
John, Chris and Gary ventured up to the Alanya Castle which turned out to be a colossal climb. Everyone made it . John was feeling so good that he rode right into the castle passing the ticket turret. John was retrieved safely before the archers were summoned.
Back at the race, Tom was picked up by the team van. Bobby Mac, Rustem and 'Coach' gave him a ride back to the hotel. Also in the van were two new friends (Quad fans) Ece and Esin. Bobby Mac had already brainwashed them as they continued to chant "Bobby is the best...better than all the rest". Tom had to settle for second best.
Eventually everyone emerged back at the hotel where we loaded the van and took a ride back up to Alanya Castle for the tour. We had fun climbing around the ruins and listening to tour-guide Rustem. We said good-bye to the girls and stopped at the base of the castle for some lunch, cye (tea) and beer.
We walked some more through the main streets of Alanya stopping at one more cafe for some cappuccino and mouth-watering turkish desserts. Coach picked us up at 5:30p and we took the 8 hour return trek back to Kizkalesi. We stopped for a lot of cye along the way. It was great to arrive back in Kizkalesi at 1am. and get greeted by our friend Sherin from the Rain Hotel.
